"Key Keeper by Sammy Cakes Fun!"

This summer you’ve probably seen kids and teens wearing those trendy oversized silicone bracelets with sayings on them.  They were initially made popular by designer Jac Vanek with the Celebrities and there are many versions out there. You can find them in all kinds of stores from Bloomingdales (Jac Venek) to your local corner Drugstore. I turned one into the perfect Key Keeper!!

There are many times when I’m out with the kids and I toss my purse into the trunk, and this is an easy way to keep track of my keys. I now just wear them attached to the bracelet. I had originally used a smaller one, like the LIVE Strong yellow ones, but this is fun and its bright enough to see in the bottom of my purse if I’m not wearing it! (Sammy is modeling my HOPE one, which I got for $1 at a local drugstore!) Fun to wear…and it’s an easy way to keep up with my keys!

Coffee Filter Snack Holder by Sammy Cakes Fun! ©

If you have ever switched coffee pots, you may have to switch coffee filters.  We did at one time and had bought a stock pile of filters from Costco, I didn’t want to toss them so we now use them to divvy up snacks to the kids. The cone shaped filters are easier to carry around than the flat bottom ones, but those can be used in place of paper plates for kids snacks for parties or in classrooms.

You can buy the round 160 ct package at the Dollar Tree for a buck. Perfect for popcorn, crackers, cookies or any dry snack, and they are a little better than paper plates for the environment…less paper…less waste and less expensive!…Yeah!

Healthy snacks are sometimes hard to work into backpacks, sack lunches and coolers, but if you package vegetables in a treat bag you have an instant fancy snack!

You can take it one step further and use a crinkle cutter for the vegetables. You can find them in the kitchen utensil section of most stores, I used this crinkle cutter from Pampered Chef to cut up a cucumber. They have a grooved edge and its easy to create fancy vegetables and cheeses with this tool. The treat bags were a clearance item left over from Valentine’s Day, which is perfect for all types of occasions with the red hearts.  (4th of July treat bags are out….I’m sure there will be bags with Stars and I’ll be sure to pick some up for future creative projects, snacks and goodies! )

It’s all in the presentation and don’t these cucumbers look fun to eat!?

"Pig Costume" "Sammy Cakes Fun"

Last night I was in my school’s Spring Concert.  It was a farm theme and everyone was suppose to dress like farmers and barn animals.  I chose to be a Piggy….because they are pink, why not!!  Here’s what we used to come up with the Fabu Piggy costume!! Less than $10 for the complete outfit!

  • A pink skirt – this one from my dress-up box.
  • Pink t-shirt w/ a piece of white felt tacked on (for the belly)
  • Black shoes/socks. Black felt for the hooves on my hands
  • Pig Ears/Nose Mask at U.S. Toy Co. for $5.99
  • Hot pink bandana from U.S. Toy Col for .99
  • A bendy oversized pipe cleaner for the tail

There were so many cute costumes….chicks made from x-long yellow t-shirts with feathers glued on with yellow leggings…cotton balls on a white t-shirt, with black leggings used for a sheep….the creativity went on-and-on.  I loved playing a Piggy and it was fun to see all the different costumes. It just shows how creative everyone can be with a little imagination.

Have fun coming up with your own farm animal.  You don’t need a school play to create your own farm adventure…..oink-oink!!
